This position pays between $76,949.00 to $102,599.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

 

 

This role will focus primarily on the design, productization, and deployment of electrical systems for Direct Current applications based on power electronics.

More specifically, the successful incumbent will:

 

  • Generate component specifications for internal and third-party suppliers.
  • Conduct detailed review of supplier’s documentation to ensure compliance with the internal technical requirements.
  • Communicate with the project manager, suppliers, and internal technology experts to provide input and leadership in the technology development and roadmap.
  • Develop the relevant engineering deliverables, such as circuit schematics, electrical drawings, bills of material, control diagrams, equipment purchase specifications, test procedures, technical descriptions, etc.
  • Recommend selection of power conductors and system protections for electric distribution systems.
  • Support and train the commissioning and service personnel.
  • Attend factory acceptance testing to verify third party equipment operation as per specifications.
  • Work with vendors and internal suppliers to optimize the product cost and to transfer the design to contract manufacturing.
  • Lead the compliance testing and certification of the integrated equipment.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 3 years of practical experience in power conversion systems development, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good overall understanding of the functional operation of DC/DC converters, DC/AC converters, switchgear, energy storage systems, natural gas generators, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in testing and debugging power electronics equipment.
  • General understanding of cross functional concepts such as control principles, voltage regulation, energy management, thermal management, and structural design.
  • Previous experience in Microgrids or Electrical Energy Storage is an asset.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
