The Manager is a strategic role to provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of new and existing SAP solutions to effectively support business objectives. The Manager will combine deep understanding and experience of shaping SAP and Non-SAP solutions with associated business process understanding to provide credible recommendations.

This role will provide oversight and strategic direction in the execution and monitoring of operational activities and technology initiatives and programs by leading, tracking the critical milestone through the phases from planning to implementation. Ensure efficient service delivery to business users by managing the ‘Application Managed Service’ (AMS) providers service offering in the resolution of IT and Corporate issues and the delivery of enhancements/upgrades. Will communicate and coordinate with other IT teams, business leaders, and project managers to ensure appropriate integration of operational activities across the enterprise, including application stability and data integrity.

This role manages one or more teams made up of leads, employees, contractors, and managed services.  This includes responsibility for resource management, staff augmentation, vendor relationships, and contract management.  The Manager ensures there is adequate support for SAP and Non-SAP applications for both day-to-day operations and on-call support.

The Manager also fosters a highly collaborative and flexible environment with key stakeholders of the CRB to lead a collection of diverse and solid technical resources. The Manager would be responsible for the overall strategy of the SAP Functional, Development, Security, and Basis teams.  Accountable for the evolution and delivery of the overall SAP CRB solution – including, but not limited to FICA, Billing & Invoicing, Device Management and Customer Service.


  • Partner with business partners to develop strategic roadmaps, oversee projects, and report operational portfolio health and ensure satisfaction in the timely delivery of IT services. Provides management oversight and strategic direction to a team of leads with technical capabilities.
  • Manage, trains, and develops leads, functional and technical resources, by providing timely feedback, coaching and support.
  • Manage Application Managed Service (AMS) provider. Partner with AMS to ensure timely delivery of operational services are met within service level agreements. Partner with AMS to drive innovation within the IT operation.
  • Working with business partners to plan, manage overall coordination of client  projects, from planning through implementation.  Set project scope, priorities, deadlines, and deliverable schedules. Facilitate discussions and consensus among various project stakeholders such as key business users, project sponsors, and leadership. For the SAP Domain, facilitates communication and activities between internal IT department, various levels of the organization and outside vendors and consultants.  Builds consensus between multiple parties and educates business and IT staff on recommended solutions for implementation.
  • Actively seek opportunities to optimize the use of SAP Applications in support of business goals and providing innovative ideas.  Maintain a high level of awareness of current and future information technologies and IT best practices.

  • Oversee projects to ensure appropriate resource utilization and achievement of project objectives for cost, quality, and timeliness.
  • Participate in the preparation and management of department operating and capital budgets.  Forecast and manage expenditures within approved budget guidelines and prepare variance reports when needed.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors regarding technology currently in use or of potential value to the organization.
  • Responsible for creating and/or maintaining architectural artifacts, policies, standards, and procedures to manage information systems architecture (data systems, applications, and technology) which would include standard development practices, software architecture, system architecture, business intelligence architecture. 





Required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, Engineering or related field from a regionally accredited college/university.

Preferred: Advanced degree in Business Administration or related field from a regionally accredited college/university.



Required: 12 years progressive responsibility within business, information systems or information management/analysis environment with minimum of 6 years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position. Minimum of 6 years’ experience in SAP.

Preferred: 20+ years of strong demonstrable SAP Experience including full end to end project lifecycle in Gas or Electric utility implementations.  Experience in SAP architecture highly desirable. Experience in agile methodologies.



  • Demonstrated ability to champion a clear vision for SAP systems to be implemented and the manner for which they will support business unit processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Utilities Solutions e.g., Finance, Human Resource, Procurement, Supply Chain, GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance), H&S (Environment, Health, and Safety), and CRB (Customer Relationship and Billing).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with business partners, IT team members and senior management.
  • Expert knowledge of SAP and Non-SAP business applications.  Stays current with IT industry trends and emerging technologies; leads application of new technologies.
  • Time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities
  • Expert verbal, written, organizational, analytical and presentation skills.  Strong leadership and analytical skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability leading teams in support of business process analysis efforts and educating others in the proper application of tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct interviews with management and other department leaders and distinguish between business needs and requests.
  • Proficient knowledge of defined business processes.  Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies. 
  • Understands project plans and ability to clearly articulate roles, project goals, and timelines.  Understanding of the components of running a fiscally successful projectDemonstrated proficiency at assessing the proposed project plans to ensure all needs are met.
  • Expert agile methodology. Such as Scrum Expert with the Microsoft Office suite. Proficient with Microsoft Project.
  • Drives continuous process improvement for SDLC, maintenance, application support, and Information Technology architecture.



  • Ability to develop and maintain solution architecture documents, establish policies & standards to meet the developing needs of the business.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and manage conversion into designs, configuration & functional specification whilst maintaining integrity of overall application design.
  • Knowledge of overall SAP ERP Solution design end to end, e.g., HR/Payroll, FI/CO, and MM modules.
  • Ability to assess emerging business & regulatory changes and articulate how these can positively impact the Company.
