This position pays between $95,570.00 to $127,427.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.




The Manager Fleet Services reports to the Director, Asset Management, Planning & Support and provides leadership in the areas of fleet management for Tampa Electric, TECO Services and Peoples Gas.  The Manager is responsible for the procurement, maintenance, fueling and repair of the rolling fleet, related equipment and gas/diesel motors at the power plants.  This position is responsible for the safety, supervision, and development of a staff of more than 60 professional, technical, administrative and craft team members in support of these functions. 



·         Oversight of $54M in assets; accountable for the execution of a $17M Operating budget, $8 M Capital budget, and $500K Other Revenue budget (Salvage).  

·         Establish and maintain an effective, positive culture of safety.

·         Provide leadership for the procurement, maintenance and repair of the fleet assets.

·         Provide leadership for the fueling of the fleet assets.

·         Provide leadership for the selection, supervision, training, development, motivation, and compensation of supervisory, professional, technical, craft and administrative staff necessary to carry out the functions of the department. 

·         Maintain the necessary controls to ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, federal, state and local laws and codes, and the IBEW contract.

·         Act as Subject Matter Expert in providing guidance and economic analysis of Alternative Fueled Vehicles and for the operation of the Automated Vehicle Location system.



Direct Supervision:         Supervisors, Planner, Technical Specialists  

Indirect Supervision:      Approximately 50 Fleet covered team members, several administrative personnel





Bachelor's Degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college/university



Minimum of 6 years of professional-level related experience successfully fulfilling progressively more complex roles.   Related experience includes fleet work or construction work in a utility or large industrial company.


Minimum of 5 years of professional-level related fleet experience in a utility preferred.

Utility experience strongly preferred.  


Supervisory Experience


Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience required


Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, including union personnel, preferred


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)


Must have active listening and speaking skills; Proficiency in the management of financial, material, and personnel resources is required


General knowledge and understanding of Fleet functions and specific knowledge of accounting principles as related to vehicles and equipment is preferred; Critical thinking, systems analysis and analytical decision-making skills is preferred



Business & Job Knowledge, Developing People, Judgment, Produce Results, Teamwork, Working Safely





Must be prepared to respond to emergency mutual assistance calls and readiness of fleet vehicles for travel within twelve hours.
