IT Auditor: The Audit Associate helps achieve this mission through involvement with department engagements and activities, focusing primarily on those with a heavy information systems component (security risk assessments, ITGC reviews, system implementations, etc.).   The Audit Associate works closely with other team members, internal clients, and external service providers (auditors, consultants, etc.) to better understand risk and carry out engagements.  

Senior IT Auditor: As an IT Auditor, you will be a key member of our Audit Services team, working closely with the Senior Manager, Audit Services - IT and team members across the Emera group of companies. Your internal clients will include, but not be limited to Information Technology, Finance and Operations. 

 

You will be responsible for performing internal auditing and consulting engagements of technological, financial, and operational areas with a focus on information systems as part of our Audit Plan and/or SOx program. This will involve activities such as researching engagement topics, analysis of systems processes, and controls, documenting procedures performed and communicating the results. Occasionally, your work will involve collaborating with external auditors or consultants and miscellaneous administrative activities. 

Normal working condition with occasional weekend and overtime requirements, and minimal out of town travel.

 

What Qualifications Are We Looking For? 

Education:

Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in a technology or business discipline (e.g., Management Information Systems, Accounting), issued by a regionally accredited institution,

Preferred

  • Master’s Degree with a concentration in technology or business discipline (e.g., MBA), issued by a regionally accredited university,

Licenses/Certifications

Required 

  • IT Audit: Working towards certifications that demonstrate a breadth of knowledge over internal audit, business, technology, or project management (e.g., CISA, CIA, CPA, PMP).
  • Senior IT Auditor: Certifications that demonstrate a breadth of knowledge over internal audit, business, technology, or project management (e.g., CISA, CIA, CPA, PMP).

Experience

Required:

  • IT Audit: Up to 2 years of direct or related work experience in public accounting, or internal audit with a focus on IT, related experience consists of public accounting or internal audit with a focus on information technology
  • Senior IT Auditor: At least 4 years of direct or related work experience is required;

Preferred

  • Experience in information systems risk advisory or system implementations. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

Required:

  • Knowledge of basic information system components, including networks, operating systems, databases and applications and related risks,
  • Knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO)

Required - Senior IT Auditor:

  • Working knowledge of fundamental accounting and financial transaction principles, IT operations control frameworks (e.g., CobiT), ITGC auditing approaches and methods,  SDLC concepts and risks;

Preferred 

  • Knowledge of financial auditing concepts, techniques, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and general accepted auditing standards (GAAS),
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting and financial transaction principles,
  • Knowledge of IIA standards
  • Knowledge of the following systems and technologies:
    • SAP ERP (FI/CO, SC, HCM), BW, BPC, GRC, HANA
    • ACL
    • Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM)
    • Energy Trading and Risk Management Systems (ETRM)
    • Infrastructure virtualization
    • Industrial Control Systems (e.g., SCADA, DCS)
  • Working knowledge of project management best practices,
  • Working knowledge of utility industry technology compliance requirements (e.g., NERC CIP);
  • The ability to use scripting and query languages (e.g., VBA, SQL)
