This position will be open to Internal TECO team members for a minimum of 7 days from the date posted. 


Senior Engineer



Overtime work as needed.  Frequent outdoor exposure to construction activity and remote areas during project evaluation and routing.



Must be able to work inside and outside for extended periods of time.



Provides support to the Local/Territory operations personnel in all areas of operations and to provide engineering design and project management of major gas main expansion projects.



Performs engineering work with sound knowledge of functional area of work requiring application of advanced engineering concepts; performs broader assignments independently; responsibility for training, orientation and assigning work to other employees; may schedule/coordinate projects without supervision and review; prepare engineering analyses, write specifications and reports on independent  basis.

  • Develop standard, and non-standard as needed, designs and drawings as assigned for approval by others.
  • Design and construction of the company’s larger volume gas facilities, to include: gas flow/process development, equipment specifications and RFQ, Material specifications and RFQ, Cost estimation, creation of design and construction drawings, oversight of permit acquisitions, coordination with other engineering disciplines or outside engineering firms, preconstruction planning and scheduling, recommend selection of contractors based on bids, coordination with contractors , construction inspection, completion of post project documentation and transmittals, receiving materials and services in SAP and invoice payments.
  • Provides Synergi modeling results to Local/Territory operations and Fuels Management staff.  Provides cost estimates after approval by Management.
  • Support Local/Territory operations on engineering specific issues as needed. Travel throughout the Company’s service area to provide support as needed.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned by Manager, including gathering information and providing feedback and updates to department management on engineering and operations issues, and updates on pipeline supplier issues.




Required:       Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited college/university

Preferred:       Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering


Required:       Eligibility to become a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida

Preferred:       Professional Engineer License in the State of Florida



Required:       Minimum of 8 years of related experience as an Engineer; Engineering experience in the natural gas industry

Preferred:       10 years related work experience in the natural gas industry; Experience in AutoCAD and/or Microstation




  • Strong organizational and project management skills, good written and oral communications skills, knowledge of engineering procedures, ability to read and understand plans and alignment sheets, ability to problem solve and to analyze problems logically, good judgment, must be willing to perform in emergency situations, knowledgeable of all relevant federal and state regulations as they pertain to natural gas distribution and transmission, knowledge of piping design and layout, ability to recommend alternatives in real-time on job sites as needed,  proficient in Synergee network modeling software (or equivalent)
