POSITION CONCEPT 

This position is responsible for creating and maintaining drawings & maps for the engineering design and construction of substation relay and control, structures and equipment, and RTU facilities. Responsible for creating standard to complex drawings including construction prints, schematics, one line diagrams and related drawings  and interpreting standard to complex work request sketches.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1.    Apply advanced drafting skills and principles to create, revise, maintain, and archive substation drawings, & maps. 

2.    Read and understand standard to complex work requests, blueprints, and field sketches to create or make changes to associated drawings & maps. 

3.    Create plots for all drawing products including standard to complex, large sized requests. 

4.    Verify that completed work, both electronic and plotted, is correct, and accurate. 

5.    Prepare and layout standard to complex drafting projects including written procedures necessary to implement the project such as specification details, switching instructions, and legal documentation. 

6.    Provide support and training of CAD systems. 

7.    Guide and instruct team members in drafting techniques and principles.

8.    Translate and interpret vendor and customer supplied CAD and other drafting files.

Direct Supervision:    No direct supervisory responsibility.
 
Indirect Supervision: No indirect supervisory responsibility.

 

RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal:      Members of substation engineering, substation operations, and RTU.
Key External:     Contractors, Customers, and Vendors

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education      
Required:    High School Diploma
Preferred:    Associate Degree

 

Licenses/Certifications 
Required:    None
Preferred:    None


Direct Experience 
Required:    Minimum of 3 years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required.
Preferred:    Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is preferred.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 
Required:    AutoCAD/Auto Desk Suite of Products
Preferred:    Microstation Software Familiarity
