This position pays between $86,183.00 to $114,911.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

 

 

POSITION CONCEPT:

Responsible for building an organizational-wide continuous improvement capability through strong partnering with the business units to drive process designs, redesigns and system integrations using proven best practice techniques and methodologies.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Set the strategy for Lean Six Sigma implementation, including coach and consult with management in creating infrastructure for successful deployment, support and sustainment. 
  2. Lead champions through project selection and scope, assuring linkage between projects and business and customer priorities.
  3. Lead the development of process improvement training (Lean Six Sigma tools) to a wide range of team members.  Lead the development of others to become teachers and mentors of the Lean Six Sigma Material including but not limited to the Black Belt.  Promote the transfer of skills and knowledge of process and systems thinking throughout the organization to increase the capabilities of the organization. 
  4. Lead the mentoring and development of Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts through project selection, tool usage, tool understanding, tool application and certification.  Coach and mentor executives, project champions and others in the use of Lean tools and methodology to ensure timely completion of projects with expected results. 
  5. Lead executive briefings, progress status reporting, and definition of measures and generation of project ideas.  Lead area discussions on Benchmarking and project selection.

           

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Working conditions will be normal office environment except for coaching, mentoring and facilitation in areas that might require additional assistance.  PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) needed in some cases.

 

DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS:

Travel required to TECO Energy sites.

 

Level 3 – Master Black Belt

The Master Black Belt completes primary duties independently and proficiently and performs the additional responsibilities below with minimal supervision and provides training and mentoring to the Green or Black Belt.

 

EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution

Preferred: Engineering Degree, Advanced degree

 

Licenses/Certifications:

Required: Master Black Belt (ASQ or equivalent)    

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Minimum of ten years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of the position. 
  • Experience must include 6-8 years of experience in working as a Lean/Six Sigma certified Black Belt with demonstrated success and financial results leading Six Sigma and lean projects
  • Led Lean Six Sigma classroom training, along with coaching and mentoring of green belts and black belts for a minimum of six years

Preferred

  • Three years of experience in a utility environment and overall knowledge of utility processes.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (KSA)

Required:

  • Demonstrated technical mastery of Six Sigma tools and Lean concepts, DMAIC, data analysis, process mapping, process analysis, data collection and classroom facilitation techniques
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel data analysis and in detail analysis using Minitab (or equivalent) software, Visio and PowerPoint is required
  • Demonstrated ability to transform an organization’s culture through process and metrics driven performance
  • Lean Six Sigma Knowledge – be the go to person for questions and solutions
  • Business Acumen – understand the business
  • Project Management – ability to manage multiple projects with positive results
  • Lean Training Material – ability to field questions during training and give examples of tool usage
