POSITION CONCEPT

The Manager of Community Investment incorporates the Tampa Electric and TECO Peoples Gas mission and strategic objectives to manage and expand upon a comprehensive, integrated, and proactive community engagement program. The manager works closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate initiatives that further the companies’ positive reputation and impact within all the communities we serve statewide. The position manages all company grants of support, oversees the volunteerism, develops reports and materials on companies’ community initiatives and serves as a representative internally and externally on community engagement. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders to create strategic partnerships to enhance corporate citizenship and responsibility, branding, and promotion of the mission and goals of the companies.
  2. Lead and manage the community investment portfolio for grant awards and support in alignment with statewide company objectives and ensure compliance with allocated funding.
  3. Create, implement, and oversee a comprehensive development plan and contribution budget as well as metrics of success.
  4. Manage and oversee the company grant management platform, Benevity, for grant request submissions for all investments in External Affairs.  
  5. Develop, implement, and oversee a calendar of community engagement events to track internal and external stakeholder engagement, influence, and results.
  6. Facilitate, develop, implement, and organize the integration of the companies’ volunteerism with community partner events to leverage and increase the total support of such partners to further the mission and goals of the company.
  7. Prepare various data reports and documents for internal distribution as required for the corporate sustainability report, reporting to companies’ Board of Governors, and reporting to companies’ leadership.
  8. Advise and counsel on corporate citizenship demographic trends, potential challenges and opportunities for support, policy changes that would impact the mission or mode of engagement, and overall evaluation of company social responsibility.
  9. Represent the companies as community investment lead externally and internally, including in coordination with the other Emera affiliate community investment teams.

 

SUPERVISION

Indirect Supervision:             Provides leadership across the department and company through community and corporate citizenship initiatives.

RELATIONSHIPS

Key Internal:     Relationships with senior management and other professionals across all TECO companies, including departments overseeing local external affairs and economic development, finance, marketing and communications, customer experience, business strategy, and advisory councils like the Emerging Professionals, Inclusion & Diversity Taskforces, and Women’s Networking Group.

Key External:     Non-profit 501(c)3 organizations, statewide trade and industry associations, and customers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required:           Bachelor’s degree Business, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

Preferred:          Master’s degree in related field.

 

Experience 

Required:           Minimum of 6 years of work experience related to the Duties and Responsibilities of this position is required.

Preferred:          Nonprofit or corporate philanthropy, grant management and development.
