POSITION CONCEPT

The Business Planning Analyst Sr is responsible for regulatory plant accounting and reporting functions, including, but not limited to: journal entries, plant account reconciliations, regulatory reporting, budget and forecasting, audit requests, plant account analysis and special projects as needed.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and peer review complex journal entries
  • Reconcile and maintain plant accounts
  • Prepare and peer review reports filed with regulatory agencies including FERC and FPSC
  • Coordinate month-end closeout responsibilities with outside departments
  • Prepare complex plant account analysis and research plant account variances
  • Prepare and peer review budgets and forecasts
  • Create ad hoc reports and initiate special projects
  • Independently handles data requests during rate cases and audits
  • Analyze continuing property record activities for asset additions, asset retirements, cost of removal and salvage unitizations.

 

 

EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited university or college. Masters in Accounting, Finance, or financial-related field will be accepted in lieu of the Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

 

Licenses/Certifications

Preferred: CPA

 

Related Experience

Required:       Minimum of five (5) years of financial work experience

Preferred:      Five (5) or more years of financial work experience with regulated utility accounting experience

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and regulatory FERC accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus on Microsoft Excel
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with advanced analytical and organizational skills
  • Works independently with little to no supervision and performs well in a deadline driven environment
  • The ability to professionally engage with senior leadership and internal/external constituents on a frequent basis
  • Demonstrates good judgement and executes process improvements

Preferred: Proficiency with software/systems such as SAP, BPC, Power Plant
