Co-Op/Alternate-TPA Engineering
Full-time (40 hours/week) Engineering Student Positions (Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical) available at TECO Energy.


The TECO Energy Cooperative Education Program offers college degree-seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co-op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.  Work assignments are consistent with the work needs of the department and the company and provide meaningful and challenging work to the student.  These engineering co-op positions will report to Energy Supply engineers and support a variety of technical projects ranging in complexity, scope and time spans. 


Requirements for this position:

  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited university or college and enrolled in the Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering programs.
  • If participating as a co-op student, enrollment in the university’s co-op program is a must.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Classification: Junior year or higher 
  • Degrees:  Bachelors or Masters
  • Satisfactory progress in school and on the job
  • Typically, in addition to office work, students will work 50% of the time in the power stations and service areas, and will need to be hands on and be willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, etc., and to work in industrial environments which can be dirty

 

Students must be willing and able to work in any of our services areas and power stations including:

  • Big Bend Power Station in Apollo Beach, FL
  • Bayside Power Station
  • Polk Power Station 

 

Student must have their own vehicle to drive to any of our sites

Full time 40 hours per week will be within a Monday – Friday typically within a 7:00AM – 6:00PM schedule
