The Corrosion Coordinator provides oversight and direction of corrosion activities for the distribution and transmission facilities for all Florida Operations, to maintain Cathodic Protection (CP) compliance levels in a safe, efficient and environmentally sound manner. Develops compliance standards and deliver quality assurance for all CP activities to ensure company, State and Federal compliance requirements are being met.  Serves as the principal means of coordinating the efforts of others to achieve active corrosion control.  Works with limited supervisory involvement and exercises a considerable amount of independent decision making; Leads the oversight/scheduling of CP design for new projects of varying degrees of complexity; Provides troubleshooting recommendations to remediate discovered deficiencies; Promotes a positive safety culture and environmental awareness. May be required to perform corrosion coordinating duties in multiple gas operating divisions.



  • Reviews, analyzes and advises Engineering in the design and planning of new CP and AC Mitigation systems.  Provides input to local management with specific project costs for budgeting purposes.
  • Conducts field inspections of CP and AC Mitigation surveys as needed to determine areas requiring further testing and cost-effective solutions.
  • Coordinates and reviews the testing requirements necessary for maintaining existing and the planning of new facility installations.
  • Provides leadership to others to troubleshoot corrosion and induced AC problems. Documents troubleshooting efforts and makes recommendations for remediation.
  • Aids in and oversees the preparation of compliance records.  Makes technical recommendations that comply with State and Federal requirements. Provides technical assistance during annual CP inspections by regulatory agencies.
  • Performs special technical assignments, on-call support and other job duties as required, including assisting other employees on an as needed basis.



RequiredValid High School diploma or valid GED required

Required: Must hold a current NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) CP Technician Certification or approved equivalent



Required: Minimum of 5 years of direct work experience performing Senior Corrosion Technician or equivalent duties and responsibilities

Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of experience interacting with Public Service Commission inspectors



  • Must be fully proficient in dimensions, duties and responsibilities of a Senior Corrosion Technician. 
  • Strong working knowledge of engineering procedures and of the specific procedures related to corrosion engineering.
  • Must be proficient in the design of Cathodic Protection Rectifiers and associated ground bed design.
  • Must be proficient in AC mitigation principles.
  • Ability to read and understand maps.
  • Knowledge of all relevant municipal, state and federal regulations.
  • Mechanical ability to operate the testing equipment related to the specialty of corrosion engineering.
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow/give oral and written recommendations and to problem solve and analyze problems logically.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Travel within the Territory’s operating locations required. Travel to PGS statewide operating locations as needed.



Must be able to independently drive a motor vehicle for approximately 2 hours in an 8-hour shift.
