POSITION CONCEPT:

Coordinates turn-key installations, service and product availability for customers through third-party partnerships.  Provides technical/professional assistance to Company personnel, customers, contractors and municipal inspectors.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identifies the location and coordinates the installation of both residential and commercial gas services by working with inter-company personnel, builders, contractors, dealers and customers.
  2. Maintains the highest levels of customer satisfaction through the continued monitoring of Energy Advantage Dealers (EAD) and contractors’ performance.
  3. Educates, inspects and/or audits contractors on the installation of gas piping and being in compliance with all rules and regulations.
  4. Performs piping estimates, exterior feasibility studies and meter relocate planning for customers.
  5. Administers permit process and develops isometric drawings and engineering drawings.
  6. Conducts and calls for inspections.
  7. Sizes meters and service lines for all types of natural gas pipeline installations.
  8. Works closely with TECO Partners to provide feasibility studies and technical assistance on their new service leads.
  9. Takes calls as a Duty Supervisor on a rotating basis.
  10. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including assisting in the actual installation of the natural gas service, as needed.

 

EDUCATION:

Required:  High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

 

Licenses/Certifications:

Required:

Valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; a CDL may be required with certain positions/assignments.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:  Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a PGS Senior Utility Technician;

OR

Minimum of five (5) years of natural gas utility experience performing the same duties and responsibilities of this position.  

 

Experience must consist of progressively more complex work assignments and utilizing leadership skills in providing guidance and assessment of team members’ work processes.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required:

  • A complete knowledge of piping design and layout for gas services. 
  • Knowledge of mapping systems, such as Utility Center. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints. 
  • Ability to develop isometric drawings. 
  • Mechanical ability and/or aptitude to assist with gas installations. 
  • Good interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred:  Knowledge of all applicable gas codes and safety regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Must be able to take calls as a Duty Supervisor on a rotating basis.  Must be able to respond to gas emergencies and/or business needs within divisional guidelines and work outdoors for extended periods of time. Ability to work after hours and weekends to attend industry/trade shows and/or handle gas emergencies.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS:

  •   Must be able to independently drive a motor vehicle for approximately four (4) hours in an eight (8) hour shift.
  •   Must be able to independently enter and/or exit a motor vehicle approximately 25 times in an eight (8) hour shift.
  •   Must be able to bend, stoop, and/or crouch approximately thirty (30) times in an eight (8) hour shift.
  •   Must be ableto walk approximately two (2) miles in an eight (8) hour shift.
  •   Must be able to stand at least four (4) hours in an eight (8) hour shift.
  •   Must be able to endure 90+ degree heat for five (5) hours in a day during summer months
  •   Must be able to concentrate on details for an entire eight (8) hour shift.Must be able to smell gas odorant in normal concentrations.
