This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Sunday October 18th, 2020. 

Placement in any level is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

 

Preferences

Programming/Scripting experience is a plus.

Project Management experience is a plus.

Data/Analytic experience is a plus.

 

POSITION CONCEPT

Responsible for working with management and front-line personnel to analyze and understand business needs and strategy in order to document and recommend appropriate IT solutions.  Serve as a liaison between business partners and IT Development and Support personnel.

Advancement is not automatic, i.e., based solely on time in the job, but will be based on direct observation of the team member’s performance, accomplishments, qualifications and the business and/or technical needs of the department.

Key Internal:     BSA (all levels), IT team members, business units, and supervisors.

Key External:    Business colleagues (Managers and Directors in collaborative team settings), IT Contractors and Consultants, and Hardware and Software vendors.

 

LEVEL 1:  Associate Business Systems Analyst (ABSA)

The Business Systems Analyst Associate, analyzes and understand business needs and strategy in order to document and recommend appropriate IT solutions.  Participates in business process modeling sessions.  Seeks resolution to issues while developing strong business and system knowledge.  Works under general supervision.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Participate in business process modeling sessions.
  2. Create and update business process decomposition models.
  3. Collect and consolidate required information and data in the creation of analysis documentation in

             accordance with the New Mexico Gas Company’s Systems Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) methodology.

  1. Work with business partners to document detailed business requirements, for possible systems enablement (automation).
  2. Seek resolution to issues and notify appropriate management staff.
  3. Develop strong business and system knowledge relating to functional areas and assigned Business Unit(s).

 

Supervision

Indirect Supervision:     May guide and direct Contractors and other team members – who are performing the BSA role on a temporary basis.

 

Qualifications

 

Education
Required:     
Associate Degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline.  Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (see     work experience below.)        
Preferred:
    Bachelor’s Degree.

 

Licenses/Certifications

Required:   Depending upon position and/or geographic location, may be required to possess a valid driver’s license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the company

Experience
Required:     A minimum of 2 years of related experience performing the Duties and    Responsibilities of this position. In lieu of Associate degree, an additional 2 years of direct work experience performing the duties and               responsibilities of this or similar position may be considered.   

 

level 2:  Business Systems Analyst (BSA)

The Business Systems Analyst, analyzes and understand business needs and strategy in order to document and recommend appropriate IT solutions.  Facilitates business process modeling sessions and drives the resolution to issues.  Develops strong business and system knowledge relating to functional areas and assigned Business Units.  Works under limited supervision.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate business process modeling sessions to maintain and/or construct process models.
  2. Practice and demonstrate proficiency in state-of-the-art business and systems modeling techniques.
  3. Coach and mentor junior staff in the application of business process modeling techniques.
  4. Drive the collection and consolidation of required information and data in the creation of analysis

             documentation in accordance with the New Mexico Gas Company’s (NMGC) Systems Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) methodology.

  1. Drives engagement with business partners to document detailed business requirements, for 

     possible systems enablement (automation).

  1. Assist and support the IT Department with the design and development of IT solutions.
  2. Drive the resolution to issues and notify appropriate management staff.
  3. Create and maintain logical data models for assigned Business Unit(s).
  4. Develop strong business and system knowledge relating to functional areas and assigned Business

      Unit(s).

  1. Participate in the creation of User Acceptance Test (UAT) plans during the Requirements Definition

    phase of the SDLC and review/validate UAT results for alignment with business requirements.

 

Supervision

Indirect Supervision:     May guide and direct Contractors and other team members – who are performing the BSA role on a temporary basis.  May mentor Level 1 Business Systems Analyst.

 

Qualifications

 

Education

Required:     Associate Degree in a related field (i.e. Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent discipline).   Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (see work experience below).   May consider less experience with a bachelor’s degree. 

Preferred:    Bachelor’s Degree in a specified field listed above.

 

Licenses/Certifications

Experience

Required:     Minimum of 4 years of direct experience performing the Duties and Responsibilities of this position. May consider a minimum 2 years related experience which includes systems analysis, design and development with a bachelor’s degree.  In lieu of an associate degree, an additional 2 years of direct work experience performing the duties and responsibilities of this or similar position may be considered.   

 

LEVEL 3:  Sr. Business Systems Analyst (SBSA)

The Business Systems Analyst Sr, working with management and business leaders, ascertains business needs and strategy in order to document and recommend appropriate IT solutions.  Constructs and maintains business process models for Business Units and at a Company level.  Drives the resolution to issues while developing strong business and complex system knowledge relating to New Mexico Gas Company’s (NMGC) entire applications portfolio.  May mentor and provide training to Level 1 and Level 2 Business Systems Analysts.  Works under minimal supervision. 

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Construct and maintain business process models, facilitate business process modeling sessions, and create and maintain logical data models for assigned Business Unit(s). 
  2. Practice and demonstrate complex proficiency in state-of-the-art business and systems modeling techniques.
  3. Drive the collection and consolidation of required information and data in the creation of analysis documentation in accordance with the Systems Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) methodology.
  4. Drives engagement with business partners to document detailed business requirements, for possible systems enablement (automation).
  5. Assist and support the IT development teams with the design and development of IT solutions.
  6. Independently conduct interviews with all levels of business management and department leaders to ascertain business needs, and represent and communicate systems requirements that are specific, accurate, and unambiguous.
  7. Serve as a primary IT point-of-contact for mid-level business management, addressing the needs of multiple Business Units.
  8. Coach and mentor staff in the application of business process modeling techniques.
  9. Ensures the resolution of issues and communication of actions to the appropriate management staff.
  10. Construct and maintain logical business process data models for Business Units and at an Enterprise level.  Determine and subset project specific process models from the Enterprise Process Model.
  11. Develop strong business and complex system knowledge relating to NMGC entire applications portfolio areas and how it is used to enable the related business unit functions.
  12. Participate in the creation of User Acceptance Test (UAT) plans during the Requirements Definition phase of the SDLC and review/validate UAT results for alignment with business requirements.

Indirect Supervision:  May guide and direct Contractors and other team members – who are performing the BSA role on a temporary basis.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education
