This senior level engineering position provides an advanced level of uniquely high value and important technical and operational support on various capital projects and to the plant technical staff at TECO Generation’s facilities.
This support focuses on response to major forced outages to expedited return to service of generating equipment, planned major maintenance and equipment overhauls to maximize facility performance and minimize maintenance cost and provide input to plant staff in the development of long range generating equipment maintenance needs with particular focus on an expert level of Mechanical engineering with equipment and processes commonly utilized in the power plants, such as, but not limited to Boilers/HRSGs, FWHTRs, HEP, Pressure Vessels, Condensers, Fire Protection, Fans, Pumps, and Turbine Cycle  systems. 
This role shall be a focal point for specific engineering skills and able to analyze and resolve complex issues. This position should be involved in power industry committees (such as ASME, HRSG group, etc.) to continue his expertise and develop new ways of treating new and old problems and issues. This position should be considered a company expert in industry codes (ASME/ANSI, NFPA, API, AMCA, etc), Boilers/HRSGs, Pressure Vessels, and High Energy Piping. 



1. Maintain and lead a qualified staff of highly skilled and motivated engineers/technicians to augment plant technical staff and support technical needs in the areas of Turbine cycle high energy systems and equipment, and their integrity.  This includes establishing and maintaining appropriate level of contract resources necessary to meet varying manpower requirements necessary to support capital project and O&M work assignments.  (15%)  
2. Respond, as appropriate, to major forced outages to support expedited return to service of our generating facilities. (10%)
3. Provide recommendations and technical expertise to the development and implementation of improvement projects for our generation facilities.  This also includes maintaining industry contacts, networking with experts and participation on code committees.10%)
4. Provide consultation and guidance for Engineering & Project Management and other department personnel in technical matters, particularly in engineering quality assurance area, as related to equipment/system design, materials and operating characteristics for existing and new equipment procurement and installation. This also includes coaching and training of young engineers. (20%)
5. Advise and assist Engineering & Project Management personnel in developing engineering specifications, scopes of work and contracts, major equipment contracts, project schedules, cost estimates, and project justifications. This also includes reviewing of QA/QC documentation. (15%)
6. Facilitate the dialog between generation facilities to ensure that “lessons learned” at one location are shared with the other locations. (10%)
7. Support capital projects as required. (10%)
8. Perform other duties as may be assigned. (10%)


Required: 1 year of engineering supervision
Preferred: Five years of engineering supervision


Required: Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET accredited college program
Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering or engineering management from an ABET accredited college program 


Required: Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida


Required: 16 years heavy industrial/power plant engineering/maintenance experience.


Required: Demonstrated sound knowledge in a functional work related area with an expected or higher degree of performance, and experience as required in the TEC Engineering Career Path, Administrative Policy Number 2.13.         
Preferred: Demonstrated knowledge of company policies, work procedures, and above expected performance in the Senior Consulting Engineer classification.  Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.
