This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Sunday, October 8th, 2023.
The Construction & Maintenance Tech position pays between $40,400 to $50,500, and the Sr Construction & Maintenance Technician position pays between $46,120 to $57,650. Placement in any level is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.
The successful candidate must live within 30 minutes of Anthony, NM.

Construction & Maintenance Technician
Under general supervision, provides labor support for gas distribution and/or transmission construction, maintenance, installation, and emergency response.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Frequently work around live gas mains and services when performing taps, stop-offs, or tie-ins. Prepare job site for safe operations establishing safe work zones.
2. Excavate site using manual tools, excavating machinery, and shoring following all safety procedures and requirements.
3. Perform intermediate excavation and primary shoring duties.
4. Operate large vehicles and equipment such as, but not limited to, crew trucks, trenchers, and backhoes with general oversight from experienced operators.
5. Operate and use hand tools, small equipment, and machineries such as jackhammers, power tools, shovels, tampers, and pneumatic/hydraulic equipment as required.
6. Installation and maintenance of steel pipe or non-steel systems Polyethylene (PE) plastic pipe utilizing heat fusion/electrofusion.
7. Perform electrofusion as needed by department.
8. Install steel or plastic gas pipelines, under the span of control from qualified personnel.
9. Install caution tape and tracer wire, if applicable.
10. Read, interpret, and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and maps.
11. Load and unload materials and equipment and keep vehicles stocked with materials.
12. Perform various new construction, maintenance, or repair work of natural gas infrastructure tasks such as priming and wrapping steel pipe, installation of tracer wire, and anodes.
13. Perform various safety tests, including pressure tests, on gas pipelines.
14. Operate and perform preventative and corrective inspections on company vehicles and equipment.
15. Participate in job hazard analysis daily or as often as conditions change.
16. May be asked to perform other tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
Licenses/Certifications
Required: Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable Operator Qualifications (OQs). Annual fit testing requirements for respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the Company. Must obtain and maintain a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL) within one (1) year of hire.
Related Experience
Required: Zero (0) to three (3) years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this or similar position.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required: Ability to gain a working knowledge of and ability to operate various power tools. Safety-related expertise and methodologies of gas systems. Ability to acquire a basic understanding of company policies, procedures, and related government agency regulations. Ability to prepare simple reports and transaction forms. Ability to exercise sound judgment based on training and experience in gas construction. Ability to work well with others.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Construction and/or field environment. May be required to work overtime and/or be on-call and handle emergency response as needed. Will be exposed year-round to outside weather conditions. Work often involves exposure to extreme heat and cold, uneven terrain, high-pressure natural gas, blowing gas, and gas fumes. May be required to work at various job sites and locations for extended periods. Personal protective equipment needed including but not limited to, safety glasses, puncture resistance boots, hard hat, respirator, and SCBA; worn while performing the field functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to stand and walk with the ability to bend, twist, balance, and climb frequently. Occasionally sit to drive vehicles and operate heavy equipment. Manual dexterity is required to lift, carry and/or maneuver up to 80 pounds by reaching, handling, kneeling, and/or crouching.
Senior Construction & Maintenance Technician
Under limited supervision, provides labor support for gas distribution and/or transmission construction, maintenance, installation, and emergency response.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads and performs all duties at the expert level
2. Performs various new construction, maintenance or repair work of natural gas infrastructure such as priming and wrapping steel pipe, installation of tracer wire, and anodes
3. Frequently work around live gas mains and services when performing taps, stop-offs, or tie-ins. Prepare job site for safe operations establishing safe work zones
4. Excavates site using manual tools, excavating machinery, and shoring following all safety procedures and requirements
5. Operate large vehicles and equipment such as, but not limited to, crew trucks, backhoes and trenchers
6. Performs steel ARC or Oxy acetylene welding if certified (certification subject to department need)
7. Read, interpret and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and maps
8. Ensures that right-of-way and environmental requirements are met (as needed by location)
9. Loads and unloads materials and equipment and keeps vehicles stocked with materials
10. May perform odorant tests as needed (as needed by location)
11. Operate and perform preventative and corrective inspections on company vehicles and equipment
12. Participate in job hazard analysis daily or as often as conditions change
13. Crewmen who possess Journeyman Gasfitters license may perform routine, after hours, and emergency light ups (as needed by location)
14. May be required to assume the role of Foreman when necessary
15. May be asked to perform other tasks as needed

Depending upon the position and/or geographic location, may be required to possess a Journeyman Gas Fitter’s License (JGL). Annual fit testing requirements for respirator and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Must possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL) and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the Company.
Related Experience
Required: Three (3) years of direct work experience performing the Duties & Responsibilities of this or similar position.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required: Technical knowledge and skill necessary to certify or qualify as an equipment operator as needed by location. Working knowledge of gas properties and characteristics. Working knowledge of gas distribution and/or transmission systems. Working knowledge of department functions, role, and responsibility concerning the Company's overall operation. General understanding of Company policies, procedures, and related government agency regulations, including the Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance. Ability to analyze job hazards, maintenance, and/or repair complex gas infrastructure problems. Working knowledge of and ability to operate various power tools. Ability to use good judgment based on experience and formal training and experience in gas construction. Ability to work well with others.
