This position will be open to internal and external applicants and will close on Wesdnesday February 8, 2023.

 

This position pays between $86,480.00 to $108,100.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

 

POSITION CONCEPT 
Provides leadership to team members in the administration of New Mexico Gas Technical Training Program. Supervises the Technical Training group in the administration of material testing and evaluations. Oversees the successful completion of assigned job activities by planning, organizing and monitoring procedures and processes.  

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
1.    Provides leadership, training and development to the technical training staff.  Following company leadership programs and guidelines, administers performance reviews and individual development planning. (10%)
2.    Participates in the development and administration of the Training Department annual budget, specifically in the development of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies, and other training expenditures. (10%)
3.    Develops plans and procedures of the technical training and personnel qualification and assessment program curriculum and supports the operating centers in implementing and carrying out related company programs. (10%)
4.    Supervises activities of technical trainers; reviews trainer class performance and recommends changes to training methods and program content when needed. (10%)
5.    Conducts classroom, shop, and field training. Lectures, leads discussions, revises training materials based on feedback, and arranges program logistics. (10%)
6.    Reviews proposed revisions to company policies and/or procedures, and provides feedback to management from technical training staff. (10%)
7.    Sets strategy and direction for all skills and technical training programs by investigating avenues to improve training quality and maximize safety and efficiency. (10%)
8.    Performs and/or directs analysis, testing, and evaluation of materials and assists engineering with developing standards and specifications. (10%)
9.    Performs and/or directs failure analysis, testing, and evaluation of materials failures. (10%)
10.    Maintains an excellent working relationship with management and communicates openly and often about training content and participant performance. (10%)


SUPERVISION
Direct Supervision: This position will supervise Technical Trainers.

 

RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Interacts with all levels of employees.
Key External: Interacts and communicates with external vendors, contractors and customers, and city government agencies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS
Education 
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Bachelors’ Degree in related field from an accredited college

 

Licenses/Certifications 
Required: Must have a valid NM driver’s license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the company. Must obtain performance evaluator certification (PQP Program) from an accredited 3rd party company. (Midwest Energy Association)

 

Related Experience 
Required: A minimum of 4 years of industry and/or construction and maintenance experience
Preferred: A minimum of 7 years of industry and/or construction and maintenance experience

 

Supervisory Experience
Preferred: One to two years of supervisory experience preferred

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) 
Required: Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of Gas Personnel Qualification Plans and Technical Training programs, company policies/procedures and NM Public Service Commission compliance requirements; Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Must have excellent planning and organization skills with the ability to multi-task. Must have excellent interpersonal, team building and demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop team members, delegate to others and respond effectively to high level stress situations; Must have excellent oral and written communication and listening skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely express and exchange ideas, concepts, processes and procedures and to effectively deliver presentations.

WORKING CONDITIONS 
Working outdoors in hot, humid, wet and/or cold conditions
Working overtime and/or weekends, on-call
Travel is required (10-25% of the year)
