This position will be open to Internal and External applicants and will close on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

This position pays between $74,880.00 to $93,600.00 and is based on the skills, experience, and education of the successful candidate.

 

PREFERENCES

POSITION CONCEPT
The Accountant is responsible for accounting and reporting functions, including, but not limited to: journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting, budget and forecasting, audit requests, account analysis and special projects as needed.

 

Senior Accountant 


POSITION CONCEPT
Same as above, with increasing complexity and with a higher level of contribution

Key Internal:     NMGC and affiliates
Key External:    Regulatory Commissions, external auditors

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.    Prepare, peer review, and train others on complex journal entries
2.    Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts
3.    Prepare, peer review, and train others on reports filed with regulatory agencies
4.    Coordinate month-end closeout responsibilities with outside departments
5.    Prepare complex account analysis and research account variances
6.    Prepare, peer review and train others on budgets and forecasts
7.    Create ad hoc reports and lead special projects
8.    Independently handles data requests


QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Required:    Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or a financial-related field. A Master’s Degree in Accounting or a financial-related field may be considered in lieu of direct/related experience (see below).

 

Licenses/Certifications
Required:    Depending upon position and/or geographic location, may be required to possess a valid driver’s license and meet the acceptable driving requirements of the Company.

Preferred:   CPA preferred

 

Related Experience
Required:    Minimum of 5 years of financial work experience. With a Master’s Degree in Accounting or a financial-related field, the minimum experience requirement is 3 years of financial work experience.
Preferred:    Five  or  more  years  of  financial  work  experience  with  regulated  utility  accounting experience


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required:    Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus on Microsoft Excel; Self-motivated and detail-oriented with advanced analytical and organizational skills; Works independently with little to no supervision and performs well in a deadline-driven environment; The ability to professionally engage with senior leadership and internal/external constituents on a frequent basis; Demonstrates good judgment, leadership within the finance group and executes process improvements.

 

Preferred:    Proficiency with software/systems such as SAP, Power Plan, Quorum, Banner, Oracle, or related software.
