This position pays between $111,655.00  to $159,507.00 and is based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.

 

 

POSITION CONCEPT

 

Directs the forecasting, long-term planning, implementation, and business strategic analysis of the Company. Oversees complex financial analysis for the Company’s business strategies and makes recommendations to senior leadership.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (D&R)

  • Directs the financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and specialized business concepts and functions (Plant Accounting and Taxes Other Income Taxes).

 

  • Reviews financial analysis and makes recommendations for asset utilization, business opportunities, and cost reductions.

 

  • Oversees Planning’s participation in the development of financial reports and analyses in the areas of budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, and business forecasts.

 

  • Manages the load and revenue forecasting process for the company’s annual operating plan; defines the parameters for the load and revenue forecast and reviews the output to assure consistency and reasonableness of the forecast.

 

  • Develops and communicates the timeline and schedules for the annual budget and forecasting process to appropriate field personnel and management; set deadlines for data requirements and provides necessary support for the process.

 

  • Leads various groups to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts.

 

  • Manages the integration of key analytics and reporting tools to meet regulatory and business unit activities, costs, status and trends; leads the development of new analytics to determine and quantify key financial drivers and relationships that will assist in prioritization of actions across the Company.

 

  • Represents the accounting position of the gas utility through communication with internal and external customers and auditors, governmental agencies, and other company personnel about completed transactions, proposed transactions, exchange of information, and problem solving.

Direct Supervision:       Manager, Accountant I, II, Senior, Accounting Specialist 

Indirect Supervision:     Accountant I, II, and Senior and Financial Analyst Senior

 

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:       Regular, frequent contact and communication with all levels of officers, management and team members within New Mexico Gas and Affiliates. Frequent internal contact with departments across the organization and affiliate companies.

External:      External contact with NMPRC auditors/staff, FERC auditors/staff, attorneys, and internal as well as external auditors.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Required:     Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

Preferred:    Masters of Business Administration (MBA)

 

Licenses/Certifications

Preferred:    Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)

 

Experience

Related Experience

Required:     Minimum of ten (10) years of work experience with progressively more complex forecasting and financial analysis responsibilities. In-depth experience in long-term planning and strategy.

Preferred:    Regulated utility and plant accounting experience.

 

Supervisory Experience

Required:     Six (6) years supervisory experience.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required:     Broad knowledge and understanding of finance and accounting. Strong leadership and organization skills as well as excellent oral/written communications and presentation skills.
