POSITION CONCEPT 

The Special Helper Serviceman Operator is responsible for performing all phases of equipment & material transportation of Tampa Electric Company’s fleet and equipment as assigned by the Supervisor Fleet Services. The scope of this position shall include those responsibilities defined in Exhibit “A” of the IBEW Collective Bargaining Agreement and/or the IBEW Intent Book where the position is at a lesser rate of pay.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Operates a full range of vehicles and heavy equipment requiring a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A License with X (HAZMAT) endorsement.
Transports heavy equipment and or material (actual or by transport) to various locations within and outside of TEC service areas.
Performs a wide range of pre-operation safety equipment inspections on a multitude of vehicles and construction/utility equipment.
Demonstrates equipment training and safe operating techniques of off-road construction equipment.
Conducts CDL-certified driver training for operations personnel.
Provides minor equipment servicing of equipment being transported.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as they relate to special highway permits and bridge load length loading.
Fuels a wide-range of vehicles using different fuel types.


 QUALIFICATIONS 

 Education/Training Required:
High School diploma or equivalent. Commercial Driver License Class “A” commercial driver’s license (general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicle) with endorsement codes “H” tank vehicle, and “X” hazardous materials required.

WORK CONDITIONS
This position will require irregular work schedules inclusive of night-shift assignments; temporary assignments to various Fleet locations; overtime; the ability to respond to call outs; occasional work on weekends; and the use of a personal vehicle for business related transportation.
